A light bodied and quite delicate blended white with a crunchy minerality with a spicy citrus tang. A little tropical fruit with a dash of herbaceousness. IT comes together into an early drinking style.
Comes from the excellent Whispering Hill vineyard at Mount Barker. It’s really fine and delicate yet t has flavour and it persistent to the long finish. Crisp and spicy characters dominate with just a little citrus edginess. It’s a tense and controlled win with lots to like about it.
Soft and plump fruit bomb. Loads of spicy plum and blackcurrant with only a small amount of oak. Ripe supple understated tannins. A juicy and fleshy little number ideal for drinking in the short term.
An elegant expression of Margaret River cabernet with the smooth and seamlessly structured palate a feature. Blackcurrant dominance with notes of chocolate and dark plum. Just faintly assertive on the finish to keep it tidy and focused. Medium term is best.
Such a rich and opulent vintage which has been expertly capture in this full bodied and so generous cabernet from Margaret River. Loads of sweet sappy fruit with a liberal hit of French oak has harnessed an immensely powerful statement of the region. Ripe firm tannins and that oak hold the toasty blackcurrant and dark chocolate fruit flavours with ease.

Capel Vale Regional Series Margaret River cabernet sauvignon 2013 ($26.95)
This comes from a mighty good vineyard in Cowaramup that also supplies the super premium The Scholar cabernet. This is no slouch with its leafy blackcurrant fruit and that trace of black olive tobacco leaf character. Firm, tightly-held palate with a minerally graphite-like thread holding the lines through to the finish.

A beautiful perfume aroma stamps this excellent wine from the start. A mix of leafy tobacco and blackcurrant with a little liqueur chocolate. Deep and intense palate with real Margaret River structure. Firm assertive tannins and some quality French oak hold the whole thing together.
