Pepperilly Estate Wines

best drinking summer wine

Ironcloud Rock of Solitude Purple Patch GSM 2015 ($32)

A blend of grenache shiraz and mourvedre. It’s medium weight and I love the lift scented aromas with that mx of dried herbs, spices, and light black pepper over the rose petal and light raspberry notes. Seamless structured palate with a sweet plumpish middle balance by some nice tannin and oak. Excellent wine for short term drinking.

Ironcloud Rock of Solitude Cabernet Malbec 2014 ($32)

A succulent and fleshy cabernet merlot displaying some attractive characters on the nose and palate. Scented aroma of plums ad blackcurrant with a leafy floral overtone. The palate is quite plump and generous with good tannin and oak contributions.

Pepperilly chardonnay 2014 ($18)

Opens with a beautiful mix of stone fruit, orange marmalade and roasted nuts. The palate displays rich fruit flavours of stone fruit with a mealy savoury influence. Balanced with good oak integration and length. Very good wine for the next few years.

Pepperilly rosé 2014 ($18)

One of my favourite rosés from WA. This one was showing slightly less textural characters than the previous vintage, but it still retains the influence of the
French oak fermentation. It’s bright and lively on the palate with exotic strawberry and raspberry notes on the nose. Fine persistent finish.

Pepperilly Purple Patch 2014 ($24)

This is one of the few grenache shiraz mourvedre blends made in WA. Yet when you taste a wine like this you have to wonder why we don’t have more. Soft and supple
throughout, it rolls out some thoroughly delicious fruit flavours with spices and dark chocolate overtones. Lovely hint of vanilla and spice on the finish. Excellent drinking.
