The rieslings from this small Ferguson Valley vineyard really are very good. This is so delicate and tight with floral bath salts characters with a splash of citrus. The palate has a lancing precision to a very long finish. Has a goods future.
Oh boy, there’s lots happening in this significant watershed style for Talisman. Certainly the most complex and intriguing of any of these chardonnays yet released. The wild yeast influence is profound adding complexity and texture. Has a flinty struck match aroma with lightly toasty oak and edgy white peach and nectarine.
Terrific attempt at making this fume style of savvy. It’s been wild yeast fermented and then gets in old chardonnay barrels. The result is quite stunning. IT takes the primary fruit characters out of the equation and instead you get more spices and winemaking influences which work really well while still being underpinned by some excellent fruit intensity. Has a medium term cellaring future.
This is a breakthough merlot for talisman. IT’s come from an excellent year and the use of three different clones. The result is a wine of extreme elegance and stylishness. Highly perfumed notes of red fruit and violet with a beautifully cedary oak infusion. The palate is a glorious combination that captures the variety with its refinement and poise. Super wine.
This is a pretty classy wine for this price. The floral red berry lift of the malbec plays an important part in the overall picture. The palate is refined and smoothly textured with a slightly gravelly mid-palate influence. Touch of tobacco leaf and cherry with some deeper chocolaty overtones. A pretty good wine.
Talisman shiraz 2012 ($30)
An engaging mix of earthy savoury aromas with a decent whack of dark plummy fruitcake. This is shiraz in its most honest form. Loads of flavour and richness with a full soft and most generous palate. Finishes smooth and supple. Lovely drinking over the next few years.

Talisman Barrique sauvignon blanc fume 2014 ($25)
This is a nice take on sauvignon blanc with the subtle use of oak to build the fume style. It retains its fresh crispness however with a dusty herbaceousness over the intense tropical gooseberry characters. The palate has started to open to reveal a beautiful mix of tropical and savoury fruit flavours. Further time in the cellar will benefit.

Talisman zinfandel 2012 ($40)
Even if you’re not into zin, this one might turn you. It’s beautiful with all the usual wild characters of this distinctive variety. The alcohol has been kept down and
yet it is still deeply flavoursome and intense with that mix of red berries and chocolate merging into a sweet fruit palate. Silky tannins and fine oak treatment hold the palate to a controlled effortless finish.

Talisman Riesling 2015 ($22)
Yet another really impressive Riesling from this small producer in the Ferguson Valley. Punchy lemon blossom scents with a subtle understated lime infusion. The
palate is delicate and pretty with precise lines through to the long finish. Crisp fine acid holds it together while the fruit itself is excellent.

Talisman Gabrielle chardonnay 2013 ($32)
One of the best chardonnays yet from Talisman. Wild ferment and a careful balance of new and older French oak has worked a treat to bring what is excellent fruit
to life. There’s a creamy richness through the palate with stone fruit and light grapefruit and mealiness adding complexity. Sustained finish is excellent. Rich and
textured with good palate depth.
