riesling 2016

3 Drops Riesling 2016 ($25)

Opens with a powerful and incredibly intense hut f lemon zest on the nose. The palate delivers with so much of that citrus tang cut with a piercing minerality and fine acid to burst through to the long finish. Another cracking good riesling from one of the State’s best vineyards for this variety.

 shiraz 2014

3 Drops Shiraz 2014 ($25)

There is a plushness and density in this shiraz that I haven’t seen before with 3 Drops. It is an immensely appealing wine brimming with savoury and slightly earthy loamy shiraz characters. The palate is smoothly textured with a fine balance of fruit and oak. Lip smacking finish. Impressive.

 cabernets 2014

3 Drops Cabernets 2014 ($25)

The lifted aromatics and high perfumes seem to be a result of the addition of cabernet franc. The result is a very good little cabernet blend. There is deceptive depth and punch on the palate with its distinctly blackcurrant flavours and traces of cedary oak. Slightly assertive palate gives definition to a fine crafted wine.

3drops Patterson’s Vineyard chardonnay 2014

This is from the old Patterson’s Vineyard which 3drops acquired a few years ago. It’s a mature vineyard that’s produced some mighty good wines over the years. Love
the cereal and mealy character on the nose with a cream stone fruit and brioche influence. The palate is light bodied but immensely rich and supremely balanced. A classy chardie here.
