Alkoomi Wines

best drinking summer wine

2016 Riesling

Alkoomi Black Label Riesling 2016 ($24)

One of the best rieslings I can recall from Alkoomi. Thoroughly beautiful aromatics of lime with floral notes infused. There’s some cutting minerality and spiciness to add some zing. The palate is clean and pure with length and acute precision. Little sprinkle of bath salts adds a further level of engagement.

 2016 Sauvignon Blanc

Alkoomi Black Label Sauvignon Blanc 2016 ($24)

A small amount of barrel fermentation has made a significant difference to this wine. It has creaminess and texture while still displaying plenty of primary tropical fruit character. Well balanced with persistence. A squeeze of lemon adds a neat lift on the finish.

 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon

Alkoomi Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 ($24)

A smooth and textured Frankland cabernet showing a terrific fruit and oak balance. This is a medium bodied wine exhibiting soft black plummy fruit and some light toasty oak nuances. Fine grainy tannins and a tread of understated fine grained oak. Juicy and layered palate.

Alkoomi Frankland River chardonnay 2014 ($24)

One of the best Alkoomi chardonnays yet released. Savoury stone fruit on the nose with traces of nougat and creme brulee. The palate is tightly framed with a
deep lingering intensity. A little ripe melon with a dry savoury lees influence brings complexity to a well presented palate.

Nice oak treatment.

Alkoomi cabernet sauvignon 2013 ($24)

Loaded with varietal cabernet brimming with blackcurrant and ripe plum. This is a substantial cabernet with stacks of deeply flavoursome fruit yet presented
with subtlety and finesse. The oak has been well introduced while the tannins remain firm through to the long finish.

Super wine for the price.

SCORE 93/100 CELLAR 10 years

Alkoomi Frankland River Jarrah shiraz 2010 ($45)

A shiraz which appears to reflect this slightly less opulent vintage. It still carries plenty of weight though it’s presented with a savoury elegant restraint. Dusty
earthy fruit notes with some savoury edges. The palate is seamlessly structured with layers of fruit concentration. Slightly grippy astringent tannins on the finish. Will
improve with further ageing.

SCORE 94/100 CELLAR 12 years
