Goundrey

best drinking summer wine

RAY JORDAN WINE GUIDE 2017

Goundrey Homestead Cabernet Merlot 2013 ($17)

Vibrant and fruity cab merlot. Loaded with blackcurrant and plummy fruit characters with a tight edge of black olive. It’s leafy and fragrant. The palate is medium weight with its fine tannin and subtle oak carrying it to a neat long finish. Best in the short term.

Score: 89/100     Cellar: 3 years

 RAY JORDAN WINE GUIDE 2016

Goundrey cabernet merlot 2012 ($15)

This is all about fruit-driven current drinking. It fits snugly into the groove for this style of wine. It’s soft and fruity with a little dab of oak to add something to the palate with fine tannins. The light savoury finish complements the riper, fruitier plummy characters.

SCORE 89/100 CELLAR 3 years
