IronRock Riesling 2015

Willoughby Ironrock Riesling 2014 ($35)

Interesting take on riesling here with wild yeast fermentation and use of a small amount of older French. IT’s created a highly textural wine yet one which retains that beautifully precise angular palate of the variety. Love the acid delicacy which sustains a very long finish. Really impressive riesling. The extra year inn bottle has really seen it start to reveal its qualities

Kalgan River Estate Chardonnay 2015

Willoughby Kalgan River Chardonnay 2014 ($30)

A light and distinctly fruit driven medium bodied chardonnay, displaying a nice mix of stone fruit and citrus on the nose with an edge of that roasted nut character. The plate is well woven with a neat crisp acid sustaining the finish. Well balanced and long.

Willoughby Park Ironrock chardonnay 2013 ($40)

Excellent chardonnay from the Great Southern. Opens on the nose with a mix of flinty savoury and slightly grapefruit-like aromas. It’s intense. The palate delivers on
the initial promise with flint savoury and slightly mealy flavours supported with a fine lancing acid through to a long finish. That gun metal lees character is most evident
on the palate.

Will handle some cellaring.

SCORE 93/100 CELLAR 8 years

Willoughby Park Kalgan River cabernet sauvignon 2012 ($30)

A medium-bodied cabernet exhibiting good varietal character and definition. Ripe plummy blackberry characters on the nose with a trace of tobacco leaf and
black olive. Supple fleshy palate with ripe tannins and neatly-applied oak.

Nice shorter-term cellaring.

SCORE 89/100 CELLAR 5 years
