Firetail Sparkling chardonnay 2012 ($40)

This chardonnay has had 42 months on lees to develop some rather appealing and emerging autolysis character. Has a light citrusy and lemon zest biscuit. The palate is pure and fresh with a consistency that carries through to the very long finish. Delicate and precise with good intensity and depth on the palate. Really well made sparkling wine.

Firetail cabernet sauvignon 2012 ($27.50)

Loaded with dark chocolate and plummy blackcurrant with just a faint hint of roasted coffee on the nose. The palate is seamless and velvety smooth but there is plenty of core power with those firmish tannins and ample oak. Subtle astringency on the finish completes an excellent wine.

Nice wine for current drinking.

Firetail Sparkling chardonnay 2012 ($35)

This is a quality sparkling wine made from chardonnay. The nose of subtle yeasty autolysis characters which comes from the 30 months on yeast lees. There’s a nice trace of brioche complexity that provides an appealing opening. The palate is clean and lively with a persistent fine bead. Creamy light stone fruit characters with a lemony citrus finish. Nice wine that has a few years of quality drinking ahead of it.
