RAY JORDAN WINE GUIDE 2017

Island Brook chardonnay 2014 ($24)

Bursting with minerally nectarine and broche on the nose. A little citrus edge and some nice melony influences add another dimension. The palate is flavoursome with a subtle acidity and good oak fruit integration. Has a creamy and slightly nutty texture and flavour. Nice wine in the short term.

Score: 88/100     Cellar: 3 years

Island Brook cabernet sauvignon 2013 ($29)

Scented bouquet of leafy black currant and tobacco with a trace of black olive provide an intriguing opening to this attractive medium bodied cabernet. The tannins are quite fine and neatly integrated while the oak is unobtrusive but important. Sweet fruit characters with a sustained finish.

Score: 89/100     Cellar: 5 years

 RAY JORDAN WINE GUIDE 2016

Island Brook semillon 2013 ($22)

This was still showing remarkably tightness at the time of tasting. The palate has a degree of controlled tension with a keen acidity working with the lemon and slightly grassy tones. It’s a clean and pure semillon style with a persistent appealing finish.

SCORE 89/100 CELLAR 5 years

Island Brook chardonnay 2013 ($24)

Light-bodied chardonnay with a melony, light citrus aroma infused with ever so subtle cashew characters. The palate is light bodied and appealing with good fruit and oak balance. A slightly savoury mealy finish completes a highly drinkable friendly wine.

SCORE 89/100 CELLAR 3 years
