Fruity blend from Margaret River delivering that neat mix of wild berries, plums and blackberry. A little vanillin oak complements the supple tannins in this generous wine for drinking in the short term. The integration of fruit and oak is a feature as it really brings out the lively fruit expression perfectly.
A thoroughly gorgeous example of Margaret River shiraz. It’s presented with so much poise and expression. Perfume notes of spicy violet and plum on the nose with a savoury background. The palate is totally seamless and smooth with a wonderful integration of fruit and oak supported by silky fine tannins. Drinking so well now but will handle cellaring up to 10 years.
Plush and opulent Margaret River shiraz. Spicy savoury notes on the nose with loads of mocha chocolate and coffee grinds tossed around with the deep dark satsuma plum fruitiness. Smooth and perfectly seamless palate with silky fine tannins a feature. Another lesson in quality Margaret River shiraz.
Interesting thing here is the relatively lower alcohol which does detract from the fruit intensity and power of the wine. Roasted nutty aromas with a subtle understated creamy buttery nuance. Palate is lighter bodied but with excellent persistence and depth. A little mine rally acid to finish completes a tidy wine.
Balanced and restrained chardonnay. Picked earlier yet there is no shortage of full ripe fruit and power in this well-crafted chardie that demands your attention from the first sniff. Beautiful savoury white peachy character on the nose. The palate is delicate but urgently intense and driving. Lip smacking crunchy finish.
Beautiful expression of Margaret River cabernet from a very good year. The nose is immediately powerful with a huge wave of blackcurrant and understated black olive and dark chocolate in the background. The palate delivers with punch. Deep and concentrated cabernet displaying firm fully ripe tannins and a solid hit of oak which the fruit needs. Purposeful drive to a long finish.
Sandalford Margaret River rosé 2015 ($20)
Gorgeous, just gorgeous. Scented bouquet of cherry and raspberry with a red currant influence. The palate is light bodied with a hint of sweet fruit but balanced by a crisp finishing acidity. Lovely fresh and floral characters with a delicious palate.

Sandalford Estate Reserve verdelho 2014 ($25)
Crisp and clean fresh white wine from some of the oldest verdelho vines in Margaret River. Loads of tropical fruit with a splash of citrus. It’s been kept so vibrant and pristine to capture the essence of tropical fruits. Lovely clean linear finish.

Sandalford Estate Reserve chardonnay 2014 ($35)
This excellent chardonnay from the Margaret River vineyard gets plenty of winemaking to bring the best from what is quality fruit. Toasty oak with butterscotch and brioche emerge from the nose. While into the palate there’s so much richness and intensity with a savoury lees character and a lift of grapefruity edginess. A very dry savoury finish.

Sandalford Prendiville Reserve chardonnay 2011 ($60)
So much wine and so much to like in this outstanding chardonnay from these old Margaret River vines. Rich and intense toasty butterscotch characters on the nose and palate. There’s a hint of lemon rind and brioche with some savouriness that is balanced and appealing. A fuller style and one with so much to offer.

Sandalford Prendiville Reserve shiraz 2012 ($90)
A superb Margaret River shiraz from vines that are among the oldest planted in Margaret River. Smooth and powerful with a tremendous intensity. Dry and dusty with savoury arid characters on the palate. The sweet fruit is balanced by the new French oak contribution. It’s still so young and further ageing will see this emerge into a super wine.

Sandalford Prendiville Reserve cabernet sauvignon 2013 ($90)
Intense concentrated blackcurrant and black olive nuances with distinct tobacco leaf take control on the nose. This is a powerhouse cabernet but one with tremendous finesse and elegance already that will only get better with further ageing. I like the working of the French oak into the fruit while the firm, grainy and slightly chalky tannins provide structure.
