Snake + Herring Corduroy chardonnay 2014 ($38)

Outstanding example of the lighter though still intense and precise chardonnays that come from the southern Karri dale region. This is a beauty showing a tight core of fruit wrapped with some beautiful oak. Spicy with lancing citrus and lightly roasted cashew. Nice texture and rich intensity carry through to the finish.

Snake + Herring Redemption shiraz 2013 ($25)

An eminently appealing dark and brooding young shiraz sourced from the Great Southern. Heaps of earthy dark fruit with plummy blackcurrant shiraz richness. Toasty oak and a little of that liqueur dark chocolate character with added mid palate richness. Plush.

Snake + Herring Dirty Boots cabernet sauvignon 2014 ($25)

Smooth and almost pretty cabernet from Margaret River. Lifted notes of red berry and mint with a trace of violet and cedar. The palate is seamlessly constructed with chalky tannins and a little oak to lift. Good fruit definition with a subtle dry astringency on the finish.

Snake + Herring Higher Ground cabernet sauvignon + merlot 2014  ($65)

Sourced from the Porongurups so as you would expect the cool climes of this part of Mount Barker results in a wine that shows a high degree of elegance. It’s medium bodied but with good fruit intensity. Controlled fine grained tannins and fine oak integration. Has a very lively palate.

Snake + Herring Black Betty cabernet sauvignon 2013 ($65)

Powerhouse Margaret River cabernet sauvignon that harnesses all its energies into such a perfectly refined and poised wine of great elegance. Rich chocolaty black currant with a liquorish mouth feel. Builds with layers of flavors very long finish. Will be exceptional with ageing.

Snake + Herring Cannonball cabernet sauvignon + merlot + petit verdot ($38)

Excellent blend of these three Bordeaux varieties. There is a delicious sweet fruit component displaying opulent chocolate and black fruit. The palate tough is a feature with its smooth velvety texture. Lovely graceful mouth feel and palate extension.

Snake + Herring Vamos tempranillo 2014 ($24)

This is sourced from both Margaret River and Frankland River. Has the savoury dusty edginess of Margaret River with the riper plumper characters of Frankland. Lovely mouthfeel and rich texture with a mix of liqueur raspberry and blackcurrant. Tannins are quite assertive, providing plenty of support.

Snake + Herring High + Dry Riesling 2014 ($29)

This Riesling is sourced from the Porongurups and shows a far tighter and more precise palate than the Teardrop Riesling. Lemon zest aromas carry into the palate. Spicy notes with a slightly slaty, wet pebble nuance emerges. Excellent wine.

Snake + Herring Corduroy chardonnay 2013 ($38)

Comes from the southern Margaret River area of Karridale. Impressive chardonnay combining elegance and restraint with essential Margaret River power. Creamy vanilla pod, cereal and grapefruit aromas with a trace of butterscotch. The palate displays wonderful control and focus through to the finish. Keen minerally edge on the finish. Starting to show some nice second stage characters.

Snake + Herring Perfect Day sauvignon blanc semillon 2014 ($24)

A little extra time in bottle has helped this Margaret River blend come together and express its fruit qualities well. Creamy tropical fruit on the nose with a very lightly herbaceous palate filled with some nice tropical flavours. A squeeze of lemon and a lively acidity completes the fine lingering palate. Best in the short term.

Snake + Herring Tough Love chardonnay 2014 ($24)

A distinctly fruit-driven chardonnay with the power of Margaret River on the palate given a precise mouthfeel by the edgier Porongurup component. This is a subtle expression of this variety with many delicate nuances that gradually build towards a long clean precise finish.

Snake + Herring Business Time shiraz 2013 ($38)

The nose and the palate are liberally dosed with black pepper in this beautiful medium-bodied shiraz from Mount Barker. Lush plums and opulent dark fruits on the palate. Slightly savoury with some neat toasty oak. Intense and concentrated with a crashing finish that is very long.
