Stella Bella Wines

best drinking summer wine

Stella Bella semillon sauvignon blanc 2016 ($24)

Such a vibrant and lively expression of this blend. Passionfruit with tropical melon characters on the nose lifted with a hit of lemon. The palate is racy with a gooseberry and lemony character that races through to a very long finish.

Score: 91/100     Cellar: 3 years

Stella Bella chardonnay 2015 ($32)

This is a beautiful wine that is very much about subtlety and understatement yet there is power and intensity in the palate and an intriguing mix of characters evident on the nose and the palate. Scented with lemony grapefruit and mealy cashew with a palate that shows a layered complexity and depth.

Score: 93/100     Cellar: 6 years

Stella Bella Serie Luminosa chardonnay 2013 ($65)

This is Stella Bella’s top chardonnay. Grapes comes from a couple of vineyards and after vinification are blended. The feature of this cracking wine is its texture and depth of fruit. Deeply complex with a nutty fig and cream stone fruit mix controlled with a fine acidity and excellent use of French oak. The minerally thread is a feature as it extends through to the very long finish.

Score: 96/100     Cellar: 7 years

Stella Bella cabernet sauvignon 2013 ($32)

Opens with a diving intensity of red fruits laced with a leafy black olive and plummy complexity. The palate s thoroughly engaging with deep plump and lavish black fruit with a lift of cherry. Very good use of French oak adds to the structure. Ripe firm grid of tannins. Very good.

Score: 92/100     Cellar: 7 years

Stella Bella Serie Luminosa cabernet sauvignon 2013 ($75)

A really complex aroma of high end aromatics of red fruits a little mint and a beautiful violet nuance. The palate s so dense and concentrated yet delivered with a cooler climate southern Margaret River elegance. Rip tannins and a decent hit of oak provide structure for what is an effortless poised palate profile.

Score: 95/100     Cellar: 12 years

Stella Bella Serie Luminosa chardonnay 2012 ($65)

This cranks up the Stella Bella chardonnay into another plane. Beautiful acid purity lifts the whole wine with a lively pristine precision. The aromas are complex with a mix of light cashew and grapefruit with a distinct minerality. The palate is coiled and long with a driving inner power presented with a degree of delicacy.

Stella Bella semillon sauvignon blanc 2015 ($24)

This beautiful expression of Margaret River’s staple semillon and sauvignon blanc blend punches out some pretty heady stuff. Loads of tropical fruit with a crunchy apple and stone fruit character. The palate is intense with a sprightly acid sustaining a long finish.

SCORE 92/100 CELLAR 3 years

Stella Bella chardonnay 2013 ($32)

A chardonnay that packs plenty into its tight, rich frame. Roasted cashew and vanilla aromas. The rich peaches and cream aromas carry through into the palate with its tightly-wound oak and crisp minerally acid. This is a chardonnay with plenty of kick through its very long finish.

SCORE 91/100 CELLAR 5 years

Stella Bella cabernet merlot 2013 ($24.90)

One of the best cab merlots I have tasted from Stella Bella. Plush and rich cabernet blend. Delicious sweet, ripe red fruits with some nice grainy tannins. Plump and fleshy mid palate a feature. The aromas of red currant and plum with a splash of spices are just wonderful.

SCORE 93/100 CELLAR 5 years

Stella Bella cabernet sauvignon 2012 ($32)

Refined and most elegant cabernet sauvignon displaying such balance and poise. Blackcurrant and toasty cedary oak on the nose. There’s a bit of chocolate liqueur with some complementing black olive. The palate, while fleshy, has a sound and tight core of oak and tannin for extended cellaring.

SCORE 93/100 CELLAR 10 years
