Vintners Ridge Estate

best drinking summer wine

RAY JORDAN WINE GUIDE 2017

Vintner’s Ridge Estate cabernet sauvignon 2014 ($25)

Comes from a small vineyard north of Margaret River. It has that sinewy angular mouth feel that comes from that slightly warmer subregion. But there is still excellent fruit intensity of medium weight and good structure. Has a nice mix of red berry and subtle cedar with a little black olive. Nice wine in the medium term.

Score: 89/100    Cellar: 6 years

 RAY JORDAN WINE GUIDE 2016

Vintners Ridge cabernet sauvignon 2012 ($30)

An extra year in bottle has helped this wine settle down and it’s now just starting to hit its straps with plenty more to go. A classy expression of Margaret River cabernet. Slightly less robust than the previous vintage and showing excellent balance and poise. Deep fruit concentration with dusty fine grained oak in support. Little hint of sappiness on the finish keeps things tight and focused. Complete wine with some style.

SCORE 91/100 CELLAR 6 years

Vintners Ridge cabernet sauvignon 2013 ($30)

A deeper and richer cabernet than the more elegant 2012. It is an essence of the vintage highlighting the distinctive differences. Ripe blackcurrant fruit with substantial tannins and oak in support. Has a slight assertiveness on the finish but this is a young cabernet with a good medium-term cellaring future. Nice wine.

SCORE 89/100 CELLAR 7 years
