A distinctive style of verdelho that is released after extended bottle ageing. Gets quite a deal of lees impact to build the texture. IT’s layered with complex marmalade and stone fruit characters laced together into a rich textural feel in the mouth. here is still some ageing potential in this highly individual wine.
This is made from muscadelle and pedro in a blend that dates back to 1969. Love the rich heady notes of toffee and honey with stack of raisiny characters. The palate is so rich and luscious with a silky satiny mouth feel. A glorious expression and great to see these old fortifieds still being made in the Swan Valley.
You get so much in these verdelhos from James Talijancich. Primarily it is about flavour and texture which comes from some interesting lees influences. This one has a vibrant freshness on the nose with tropical creaminess. The palate is loaded with sweet ripe verdelho that fills the mouth. Good as a young wine but it benefits from extended cellaring.

Best of the West 2016 – fortified
A thoroughly beautiful Swan Valley fortified from a solero started in 1974 with Pedro Ximenez grapes. Luscious and so richly concentrated with layer upon layer of highlyviscous unctuous fruit. Caramel and dark chocolate with honey and raisin influences. There’s toffee and coffee bean extract deep within. What a great wine.
