About Wills Domain

RAY JORDAN WINE GUIDE 2016

Wills Domain Margaret River is a multi award-winning estate winery with onsite restaurant, cellar door and art gallery. The 60-hectare estate is located on Abbey Farm Road in the subregion of Yallingup, south-western Australia. Wills Domain combines two estates, Yallingup Estate planted 1985 and Wills Domain planted in 1992. Winemaker Bruce Dukes unites 21 hectares of exceptional vine husbandry, unique subregional climate and the ancient gravelly undulating slopes of the Gunyulgup Valley.

OUR STORY

We have wine in our blood. Wills Domain is home to the Haunold family, father to son vignerons since 1383. Our heritage is Austrian and we now call 60 hectares in Western Australia’s renown Margaret River wine region home, and multi-generational family member Darren Haunold at the reins.

Our first vines were planted in 1985, and 16 years ago we established the Wills Domain brand. Since that time, Wills Domain has earned a reputation for providing some of the best wine and fine dining in the South West.

Our Location

Wills Domain enjoys an enviable location situated in the Gunyulgup Valley, Yallingup, which is at the northern end of the Margaret River wine region. Our restaurant and cellar door overlook rolling vine-covered hills, valleys and paddocks with glimpses of the Indian Ocean – the perfect view for a laid-back long lunch or private event.

Restaurant

Wills Domain has become a ‘must-do’ for food lovers visiting the Margaret River region. Executive Chef Seth James delivers beautiful food with depth and a focus on seasonal local produce.

We offer a choice of degustation or a la carte dining in a relaxed and unpretentious setting and open 7 days a week with the exception of Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day and Good Friday.

Functions

Wills Domain is the ideal venue for corporate and private events with so many ways to use the spaces we have available.

Drinks outside on the expansive decked terrace overlooking the vine-covered hills, intimate dinners in the warm-hued western wing of the Restaurant, or a lunch presentation in the light and bright dining room amongst the wine barrels are just some ideas to get you started.

The quality of the food and wine we produce is second-to-none and our service is understated and efficient.

Wine Making

The Haunold Family produced its first Margaret River vintage in 2001. Winemaker Bruce Dukes has been making our award-winning wines since this time.

Our perfect climate and landscape combined with Ernie Lepidi’s exceptional vine husbandry skills creates a fruit which we harvest, ferment, mature and nurture to make clean, beautifully structured wines with a deep aromatic complexity and a long and satisfying palate.

We strive to achieve best practice in grape growing while Bruce acts as custodian of the wines as they evolve under his watchful eye.

Vineyard

Wills Domain sits atop 60 hectares of rolling hills in the north of the Margaret River region in the Gunyulgup Valley. Our vines are planted on sun-drenched northern and western facing slopes overlook the Indian Ocean with a maritime climate perfect for growing wine grapes.
