Amberley

Amberley

Amberley was retained as a brand after the original vineyard and winery were sold a few years ago. The fruit is sourced from vineyards around Margaret River and invariably the wines deliver way beyond their price point. The reds in particular have been very good with a particular style of vibrant pure fruit expression a feature.

Amberley shiraz 2014 ($14)

This is a smooth and velvety medium-bodied shiraz. Spicy fruit with a layer of loamy earthy characters. The oak is understated, allowing the fruit to express itself. It’s an easy-drinking wine with dry tannins, making it an ideal light red meat or pasta partner.
SCORE 87/100 CELLAR 3 Years

Amberley Secret Lane sauvignon blanc 2016 ($19.95)

Boy, this captures every ounce of goodies from this variety. It’s brilliantly alive in the glass with tropical fruits and a decent splash of lemon and passionfruit bursting out. The palate is crunchy and fruity with a nice sweet fruit character balanced by crisp acid. Yummy stuff.
SCORE 90/100 CELLAR 2 years

Amberley Secret Lane semillon sauvignon blanc 2016 ($19.95)

The grassy notes of the semillon take control on the nose with the sweet tropical fruit characters of the savvy sitting comfortably underneath. It’s balanced with a crisp lemon feel on the palate. Fine lingering finish.
SCORE 91/100 CELLAR 3 years
