Fire Gully Farm & Vineyard

Fire Gully Farm & Vineyard

This label was created by Pierro’s Mike Peterkin a few years ago. The Taoist symbols for fire and valley have been chosen for the label to represent the warmth, strength, fertility and abundance that this special site offers. Mike aims to establish Fire Gully with its own identity. A reserve range has added depth to the already very good range of wines.

Fire Gully sauvignon blanc semillon 2015 ($24.50)

Love the racy feel of this wine from the initial nose through to the passionfruit and bright melon-laden palate. Has a delicious zing with so much fruit intensity. A liberal splash of citrus juice adds a little sparkling to the palate. Touch of bath salts on the finish. Lovely early drinking wine.

Fire Gully chardonnay 2015 ($31.50)

This is a beautiful medium-weight chardonnay displaying deep complexity through the nose and palate. Aromas of grapefruit and light butterscotch with those mealy grapefruit nuances of the region. The palate is finely balanced with a pleasing persistence. Touch of gun flint on the finish adds a nice touch.
SCORE 92/100 CELLAR 5 years

Fire Gully shiraz 2013 ($31.50)

The aromatics benefit from the co-fermentation with a small amount of the highly perfumed viognier. It also helps the tannin structure so even on this medium body there is good structure. The oak and fruit combo works well, with flavours of peppery black cherry a feature, and a well presented and crafted wine.
