Happs Wines

Happs Wines

Erl Happ backed his judgment some years ago in pioneering the cool climes of Karridale near Augusta, south of Margaret River. Not only did he go there with the intention of growing the standard varieties which were already popular in Australia, but he also started to experiment with new varieties which were little known to most wine drinkers. The wines under the Three Hills label are consistently first rate.

Happs chardonnay 2015 ($24)

Impeccably made chardonnay drawn from fruit on Erl Happ’s Karridale property well to the south of Margaret River. It’s creamy and slightly nutty with a purity and freshness on the palate that brings it to life. A wine of energy and drive with wonderful mouthfeel.
SCORE 91/100 CELLAR 5 Years

Happs cabernet sauvignon 2014 ($30)

Vibrant and so bright cabernet displaying some rather beautiful leafy varietal cabernet characters. The minerally graphite complexity is really appealing as it works through the sinewy red berry and slightly black olive complexity. Excellent use of oak with a touch of minty leafiness in the background. Tight and focused through to the finish.
SCORE 92/100 CELLAR 10 years
