Lange’s Wines

Lange’s Wines

Lange’s vineyard was established in 1997 on an elevated location. The 2011 shiraz, the first wine released, was produced from a select parcel of fruit from its old shiraz block. The owners chose the story of the old stock route for their label as it adjoins the back of the property and was used in the late 1800s to drive stock.

Lange’s Frankland River shiraz 2011 ($35)

This is a slightly different take on shiraz. It’s a new name from Frankland River and the wine displays a beautiful restraint and focus but still with stacks of fruit intensity. Moves into the black cherry spectrum more than the opulence of plummy and blackcurrant. A little coffee grinds and dark chocolate with a dusting of dry earth. This is a nice slightly alternative style with a dry, almost atypical Aussie feel to it. But it’s pretty good.
