Cherubino Laissez Faire chardonnay 2015 ($39)

This is a wine Cherubino makes with minimal intervention in the vineyard or the winery. It’s naturally fermented and designed to produce a subtle wine of texture and pleasing mouthfeel. Fine light brioche and citrus characters with a slightly mealy influence. Nice mineral cut gives definition.

Cherubino Margaret River chardonnay 2015 ($49)

The fruit is sourced from south of Margaret River at Karridale, and Cherubino uses several clones including the standard WA Mendoza. It’s one of the lowest alcohol chardonnays I can recall, yet there is so much flavour intensity and persistence through the palate. There’s a crunchy cereal and light mineral, nutty character. It has such a beautiful mouthfeel.

Cherubino Laissez Faire syrah 2014 ($39)

This is back to basics winemaking and viticulture. The fruit is sourced from low-yielding Great Southern bush vines, while the winemaking is very much a hands-off minimalistic approach. Yet the wine has such poise and presence with a beautiful softness and richness delivered elegantly and effortlessly. Super stuff.

Cherubino River’s End cabernet sauvignon 2014 ($39)

This is from Margaret River and Frankland, and it makes a compelling case for more combinations from these great regions. It is so exquisitely balanced and with some much intensity and fruit concentration. Leafy blackcurrant notes with a slightly meaty character. On the palate she really comes to life with that deep and powerful intensity a feature. Tightly coiled oak and fine purposeful tannins lace it up perfectly. A wine with a great future.

Cherubino Beautiful South Red Wine 2014 ($39)

This is a stunning blend of cabernet sauvignon merlot and malbec off the Riversdale vineyard in Frankland. It is so bright and lively on the nose and the palate. Bursting with life from the brilliant fruit characters on the nose through to the juicy and plush palate. The tannins keep it honest and the oak has been neatly laced into it. Excellent.

Cherubino Frankland River shiraz 2015 ($55)

Ripe, juicy and delicious. This is a mouthful of powerpacked flavour intensity that puts you almost into palate overload. Spicy blue fruits on the nose which is highly perfumed. The palate delivers ripe satsuma plumminess with an understated amount of oak. The ripe tannins help it along beautifully. Spices and cloves with so much happening at every twist and turn down a long palate path. Super.
