This is Franklin and Heather Tate’s winery, whose parents John and Toni Tate established Evans & Tate in 1971. Fruit is sourced from their Cowaramup vineyard and made by winemaker Rory Clifton-Parks. The wines offer excellent value for money across the range and have been well received in the restaurant and retail trade.

Miles From Nowhere sauvignon blanc semillon 2016 ($18)

A punchy and quite racy white blend capturing plenty of zesty tropical fruit characters with an overlay of herbaceousness. The palate has a crisp acid and the fruit lifts to a clean fresh finish.

Miles From Nowhere Best Blocks chardonnay 2015 ($32)

Controlled and well-presented chardonnay. A mix of peachy stone fruit with a layer of fig and subtle roasted cashew. The palate strikes a nice balance of oak and fruit with the finish long and pleasing. There’s a little minerally cereal-like character which adds complexity and intrigue.
