3 drops Chardonnay 2016 ($25)

Light straw colour
Appealing and complex Chardonnay nose. Rich fruit characters of nectarines are enhanced
by mealy notes, grilled nuts and well integrated French oak.
The palate shows great balance between rich fruit and a fine tight structure. Stone fruit
characters of nectarine and white peach fill the front palate which is followed by complex
mealy notes. The French oak is wonderfully well integrated and complements the rich mid
palate. The fine acid structure
The fruit is machine harvested during the cool of the night, and pressed. The juice is settled
for 24 hours then drained into barrel for ferment. The fermentation process is allowed to
start naturally then inoculated about half way through, so that no sugar remains. The wine is
then left in barrel on yeast lees until bottling. Malolactic fermentation is not encouraged

Strikes on the nose with a complex mix of cereal and stone fruit merging with some obvious vanillin oak characters. The palate is medium bodied with rich texture and well-balanced fruit concentration. Has a juicy mouth feel with crunchy minerally acid to finish. A little savoury edge completes the picture. Score: 89/100 Cellar: 3 years
