Allegiance Wines The Artisan Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

The secret to the success of the Coonawarra Wine Region is the rich, red soils of the Terra Rossa. These soils are the engine room of the region providing powerful and distinct wines.

Enticing deep red. The nose is initially restrained, however it hints of the brooding power to come and the potential to develop in future years. The distinctly Cabernet characters of dark chocolate, succulent tannins and dark berries flow through with intensity, balance and fruit weight.

Allegiance Wines has sourced this premium parcel of Cabernet Sauvignon from the premium Australian wine region of Coonawarra. This wine is an excellent example of the outstanding results possible, when an allegiance between growers and winemakers creates their best expression of the varietal and vintage. Cellar potential of 10+ years.

There is an immediate impression of mint here, not surprising with Coonawarra Cabernet. Dark berry notes. A lick of oak, but it is well balanced. Flavours moving to dark chocolate and tobacco leaf. Middling length. Some grip, via fine tannins, and good balance. An attractive Cabernet which should drink well for some time. Score: 90/100 Best drinking: five to eight years. Alc: 13.5%
