McLaren Vale is a favourite region of mine due to their knack of producing world class wines. The Artisan Shiraz is bursting with bright fruits such as blackberry, blueberry and mulberry encased in a cedary oak with hints of savoury spice. This is the real deal – everything in total balance. Can be drunk now, but will benefit from cellaring.
The signature variety of McLaren vale. Liqueur plummy cherry characters on the nose with a sprinkle of mocha and dark chocolate. Succulent palate balanced by a subtle dusty edge. Beautiful oak treatment. Cellar: 10 years
This is definitely worth a look for anyone wanting to sample the regional style of McLaren Vale. Chocolate, plums, dark berries, spices and some new leather. There is also a pleasing fig note. Concentrated, fresh and youthful. Nice length and fine tannins. Some real promise here. A wine to be enjoyed over the next decade and beyond. Score: 91/100 Best drinking: a decade and more. Alc: 14%
