Aravina Estate 2014 Wildwood Ridge Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Deep crimson hue, lifted forest berry, cassis and dried bay mesh with subtle cedar tones from the fine French oak.

The palate is typical of this icon wine, a firm and powerful entry with dense primary fruit flavours, coupled with fine tannins to deliver a wine that is a hallmark of Aravina Estate.

The fruit is hand-picked from the Estates most sought after Cabernet blocks. The long and rich finish guarantees the wine will reward long-term cellaring.

The Estate grown fruit for this wine was harvested between the 11th
and 25th March 2014 from a combination Lyre trellis, spur and cane
pruned vines. Fruit was harvested at first light and the grapes were
taken directly to the winery for processing. The grapes were destemmed
and crushed to upright static fermenters to cold soak for
colour and flavor extraction. On completion of ferment, the wine was
put through MLF and approximately one third of the wine was left on
skins for extended maceration to add structure to the wine. Following
eighteen months maturation in French oak (50% new) the wine was
blended, lightly fined and filtered prior to bottling.

Wine Guide 2016

A very good cabernet from this very good year. Shows a lovely savoury chocolaty character on the nose with some subtle black olive characters. The palate is firm with a tight core of fine grained oak and well-managed tannins. Slightly chalky tannins provide a dry balance to the sweet underlying fruit. SCORE 93/100 CELLAR 10 years
