BEST OF THE WEST CHENNIN BLANC RAY JORDAN WINE GUIDE 2016
Aromas of fresh melon, lime and preserved lemon with underlying red apples. An off-dry and fruit driven style of Chenin that displays lime and quince flavours, with a hint of sweetness balanced by a fresh, crisp acidic backbone.
The 2014 Chenin was harvested in the early hours of the morning on March 4 2014. On arrival to the winery, the fruit was de-stemmed, crushed and the must chilled en-route to the press. The juice was settled for three days before being racked clear, warmed and inoculated for fermentation.
The fermentation was held at 15°C in stainless steel tanks and was stopped prior to the wine completing fermentation to retain natural sweetness.
The wine was racked off yeast lees, fined and stabilised before being filtered and bottled.

Best of the West 2016 - chenin blanc Not your usual chenin blanc here. This one has had extended lees contact and time in older French oak creating texture, mouthfeel and new layers of flavour complexity. The aromas are an enticing mix of stone fruit and bright lemon and pear, while the palate delivers a creamy, slightly nutty flavour. Most appealing impressive expression of the variety.
