Chestnut Grove shiraz 2013 ($20)

INTRO
A very fragrant and complex array of exotic spices with white pepper, star anise, cinnamon bark combining with luscious fruit flavours of raspberry and blueberry. Subtle American oak adds a layer of sweetness and high vanillin notes. The medium-bodied style shows cool climate characteristics, more focused and restraint on the palate. Upfront red berry fruits offer sweetness and earthy, dark chocolate offer a savoury structure. An elegant wine with good cellaring potential, or consume with your favourite Asian style barbecue.

Wine Guide 2016

This was a good year with excellent ripening periods which enabled the shiraz to get fully ripe. As a result this beautiful soft and supple little shiraz is superb. Cherry and plum aromas with a little spice. The palate is so soft and velvety smooth but with a fine thread of oak and tannin in support to provide focus and structure. Great current drinking at this price. CELLAR 3 years
