Juniper Small Batch Fiano 2017

Tasting Notes

A brightly aromatic wine offering great clarity of varietal character.
Pear, honeydew, white nectarine, jasmine, honey and cinnamon all
intermingle elegantly on the nose. Refined and textural, yet clean
and crisp. Fresh ripe pear, nectarine and melon flavours integrate
with delicious saline minerality. The finish is long and citrus driven,
whilst also savoury, nutty and compelling.

Winemaker’s Notes

100% Estate grown from our Forest Grove vineayrd. 20% of the Fiano
grapes were whole bunch pressed straight to barrel and underwent
barrel fermentation in aged oak, followed by four months on lees
during which it underwent bâtonnage to enhance the natural texture.
The remaining portion was fermented in tank resulting in a brightly
fruited, clean blending component which was also aged on yeast lees
with stirring.

Wine Guide 2016

A blend of sauvignon blanc and semillon with the whole bunches pressed into oak for fermentation and further maturation. The result is a wine that has excellent depth and fruit concentration with the tropical fruit and citrusy lift of the grapes and the nutty lemon influence of the oak. There’s a nice waxy feel to it as well. A wine for the cellar. SCORE 94/100 CELLAR 10 years
