Lenton Brae 2012 Wilyabrup Chardonnay

Lenton Brae has a special affinity with Wilyabrup Chardonnay, celebrating 25 consecutive vintages of growing and vinifying with the release of the 2012 Wilyabrup Chardonnay. This release varies only slightly but significantly from previous years. It comprises about 20% of the ‘Bernard’ clones, originally sourced from Burgundy. Their inclusion brings lifted aromatics with a finer balance and flavour complexity to the palate at a lower alcohol level, complementing the power and texture of the ‘Gin Gin’ clone. The outstanding 2012 provided perfect conditions for chardonnay ripening. The grapes are handpicked, chilled then gently pressed before fermentation in new and used French oak barrels.
