The art of blending is a theme at Myattsfield and this Bordeaux style blend is a great example. From Cabernet Sauvignon we take the ripe and generous upfront blackberry and raspberry flavours, tighten and build palate weight with Petit Verdot’s awesome tannins and dark colour before filling and broadening the palate middle with the soft plush plummy fruits of Merlot and lifting the nose with it’s delicate violet aromatics. All three varieties share primary fruit flavours within the same spectrum to ensure harmony but each brings with it a particular strength that together help to build a more complete wine.

This is an excellent wine which comes off the Bickley vineyard. Ripe and lavish blackcurrant cabernet provides the dominant influence with the structure of petit verdot and flesh of merlot playing important roles. It’s generous and supple through the middle palate but the linear structure of the cabernet gives it focus and direction. SCORE 93/100 CELLAR 8 years
