Rosily Vineyard

Rosily Vineyard

Consistent high-class wines with show success and critical acclaim have confirmed the early promise which focused on whites. More recently the reds from more mature vines have made quite a statement. All estate-grown fruit with a focus on sustainability with minimal pesticide and chemical inputs.

Rosily cabernet sauvignon 2014 ($25)

Another first-rate cabernet which has been something of a winner for Rosily over the years. Deep varietal characters of blackcurrant and black olive in here with a trace of bitter dark chocolate and cedary oak. Tightly held palate with a little dried herb complementing the juicy ripe fruit.

Rosily semillon sauvignon blanc 2015 ($20)

I like this style of semillon sav blanc. It’s all juicy and ripe with crunchy lively fruit but the addition of some French oak just gives another dimension, especially on the palate. Passionfruit and limey characters really work with that lemon oak. Nice current drinking wine, although a few years wouldn’t hurt it.

Rosily sauvignon blanc 2016 ($20)

A punchy fruity savvy that packs plenty into its light frame. Loads of gooseberry and passionfruit with a slightly herbaceous character adding some palate complexity. Nice clean fruit and a long racy finish makes for excellent current drinking.

Rosily shiraz 2012 ($23)

Medium-bodied shiraz displaying a mix of spices and herbs on the nose with a lick of licorice. The palate is smooth and textured with a dusty feel of sinewy tannins and light oak. Best in the shorter term.
SCORE 88/100 CELLAR 5 years

Rosily The Cartographer 2012 ($23)

A blend of cabernet sauvignon cabernet franc merlot and petit verdot. Attractive tobacco leaf and red berry aromas. The palate displays good depth with a slightly earthy meaty character of blackcurrant and black olive subtlety. Seamless and poised with the dry sinewy tannins providing structure and focus.
