Streicker Wines

Streicker Wines

In 2001 John H. Streicker visited Margaret River for the first time. He was taken by the relaxed lifestyle, the region’s passion for sustainable viticulture and worldclass wine production. He acquired his first vineyard in 2002 and commenced a plan of redevelopment and rehabilitation for some of the oldest vines in the region. From the first vintage of Streicker Wines in 2006, the best fruit from each block has been used to produce excellent single vineyard wines.

Streicker sauvignon blanc semillon 2012 ($30)

This is an impressive example of barrel fermentation influence on this blend of white grapes. Minerally lemon-like lift on the nose comes from the French oak with the fruit beneath offering plenty of depth and fruit intensity. Now starting to move into a wonderful phase for drinking with some lovely developed characters emerging. Demonstrates that these wines should be left for a few years to get the best out of the fruit and the winemaking influence.

Streicker Ironstone Block Old Vine chardonnay 2013 ($41)

This has been an excellent variety for Streicker over the years. This is another of those wines that absolutely ticks all the boxes for drinkability and mouthfeel, while also having a high level of sophistication. Creamy and nutty with impeccable preservation of the fruit. Long finish. Most enjoyable wine.

Streicker Bridgeland Block syrah 2013 ($43)

Beautiful example of Margaret River shiraz – or syrah – as it is called in this case. Spicy with slightly dusty loamy characters showing a true connection with the soils, so there is a sense of place here. Seamlessly structured palate that runs deep and long. This is a wine where you find something interesting every time you get into it.

Streicker Ironstone Block Old Vine cabernet sauvignon 2012 ($45)

Super cabernet here. Probably the best yet from Streicker. Classically defined with tight coiled structure of firm ripe tannins and some nice dusty savoury oak. Black fruit predominate with a little leafy black olive nuance. Slightly chewy with a very long finish supported by those grainy tannins. Excellent.
SCORE 95/100 CELLAR 12 Years

Streicker Blanc de blancs ($38)

Delicate fragrant aromas of light white peach and cereal with a trace of nougat emerging on the nose. The palate is light and retains that delicacy of the straight chardonnay. Clean and crisp with a long, precise focused finish. A neat and tidy example of a blanc de blancs style.
SCORE 91/100 CELLAR 5 Years
