Watershed Shades sauvignon blanc semillon 2015 ($19.95)

CJust gets it right for this blend. Grassy passionfruit and crunchy juicy citrus adding tang to complete a thoroughly engaging current drinking wine. So much flavour all held with a precise acidity to that sustained finish.

Watershed Senses sauvignon blanc 2015 ($29.95)

When you start fiddling with oak and sav blanc you can easily wreck the fruit with heavy handedness. Winemaker Severine Logan uses a dab hand to avoid any sense of that in making this wonderful expression of augmented sav blanc sing around 50 per cent barrel fermentation to bring just the right amount of texture and nutty richness to the naturally grassy tropical characters of the savvy. Always an excellent wine.

Watershed Single Block A1 chardonnay 2014 ($46.95)

Plenty of well-applied winemaking has gone into this chardonnay. It’s all barrel fermented in new and oneyear-old barriques. The use of wild yeasts brings plenty of additional complexity into the mix. The palate is still so tightly wound but there is plenty in there with a little roast cashew and citrus tang. Some nice minerally brioche-influenced flavours are superb.

Watershed Senses cabernet merlot 2013 ($29.95)

Rich and opulent blended red offering stacks of goodies from the delicious blackcurrant to the fruitcake and dark plum. This is smooth and supple but still with a firm core of ripe tannin and subtle oak. It’s chewy and it’s textured with a smooth finish. A little closing astringency keeps it perfectly defined.

Watershed Senses shiraz 2013 ($29.95)

Impressive shiraz from Margaret River. Aromas of coffee grinds, mocha chocolate and dark plum with a savoury loamy earthiness. The palate is so well managed with the tannin and oak regime perfectly aligned to the smooth concentrated fruit. There is a delightful silkiness in here that makes it such an appealing wine for current drinking but with the potential to age for a few years.
