Windance cabernet merlot 2014 ($24)

Wow, you don’t get many wines this good for less than $25. Pure essence of Margaret River with so much juicy rich cabernet and merlot merged seamlessly into a supple and generous blend. Ripe tannins and clever use of oak combine perfectly with the intensity of the fruit. Excellent.

Windance cabernet sauvignon 2014 ($28)

Cracking good cabernet from this excellent small producer. Deep concentration of blackcurrant with a little leafy black olive subtlety. Might even find that trace of tobacco leaf in there. The tannins are slightly assertive but work well with the savoury black fruits on the palate, sustaining a long finish.

Windance shiraz 2014 ($38)

Not hard to see why this wine had such a triumphant show season in 2015. It is a stunning example of northern Margaret River shiraz. Loads of plummy black fruits with a dusty savoury character woven through. There’s a little spice and deep syrupy dark chocolate. Smooth palate supported by firmish fine tannins and some nice vanillin oak. Love to see this in a few years.
