About Moojelup Farm

We are a boutique winery, specializing in a premium range of classic wines. Our ‘single vineyard’ philosophy means that each vintage is a true expression of seasonal vagaries; the distinctive varietal character of each wine; and our location, at the foothills of the Darling Scarp, near Harvey, in the Geographe wine region.

The vines are grown in light, alluvial, loam soils, overlying deeper laterite gravel. Warm to hot summers, which are moderated by cooling sea breezes, produce wines of great depth, flavour and colour.

Moojelup Farm was established by John Thompson Logue, in the 1880s, and is one of the earliest farming properties in the area.

It has also produced fine beef cattle, and sheep and was also a major dairy. Owners Simon and Stephanie Holthouse developed the winery in the late 1990s with its first vintage in 2000.

Traditional methods are used in production, which include a hand picked, barrel fermented Semillon. Our Reds are handmade on site, using open fermentation and basket pressing, producing full bodied wines of distinctive varietal style, fruit intensity and regional character.

A highly regarded Sparkling Shiraz, hand-made in the methode traditionnelle, is our flagship wine.

A regular medal winner at the Geographe and the WA Boutique wine shows, we have also won gold and our 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon was awarded Best Older Red Wine at the 2013 Qantas Wine Show of Western Australia.

Moojelup Farm

Moojelup Farm is a boutique winery 8km north of Harvey. It specialises in classic varietals, including shiraz, cabernet sauvignon and semillon. Traditional methods are used in production, including a hand-picked, barrel-fermented semillon, and its shiraz and cabernet are open fermented and basket pressed to achieve fullbodied wines. Semillon is especially good.

Moojelup Farm Thompsons Block semillon 2017 ($18)

Another very good semillon that’s been barrelfermented for added complexity. Has that distinctive honeysuckle character on the nose and the palate. The barrel ferment certainly brings some further complexity while the fruit intensity and varietal characters remain. Clean crisp finish.
SCORE 88/100 CELLAR 7 Years

Moojelup Farm Thompsons Block cabernet sauvignon 2014 ($23)

A rather lush sweet-fruit cabernet loaded with blackcurrant fruitiness. It’s soft and supple through the palate with a driving intensity. Savoury and chocolaty characters with dark plum and a little dried herb touches.
SCORE 91/100 CELLAR 9 years
