Smallwater Estate was purchased in 1993 and planted in the same year. The intention was to develop a Marron farm and Vineyard supplying contract grapes. Most of the grapes were supplied to Cape Mentelle until 2005 when we decided to make wine under our own Smallwater Estate label.
Our first vintage (a Zinfandel) was in 2006, from 250 initial cases, our production has grown to 2,500 cases of which 70% is red wine.In 2011, we opened our Cellar Door & Restaurant using Marron from our own dams & local produce to produce a menu that complements our wine. Today the cellar door is open every weekend for wine tasting and lunch.
